Kids Clothes Week: Finished

Simplicity 4206 w/ Cloud9 Organic Fabric

I finished the shirt for my 9-year-old last night during my hour of sewing for Kids Clothes Week on Elsie Marley. I hope to get some better pictures if the sun ever comes back ;)  The pattern is Simplicity 4206, which my daughter thought was really funny because it's a pattern for "Dummies". It went together really easy, but was way too short, so I added the contrasting band of fabric at the bottom and I think it's a big design improvement to this simple pattern. By the way, this pattern for dummies still doesn't hold a candle to Patty Young's patterns for instructions for beginners. Just sayin'. The fabric is Pod and Earth from the Beyond The Sea collection by Cloud9 Fabrics.

This is really lovely! I just posted my own version of this shirt and in the flickr description said the exact same thing about the length...it's crazy how short it would be without the addition! I used the same fabric in mine and covered the seam with rick-rack, but you had the much better idea! It looks great!

Lovely top! I used this pattern for my daughter last fall, and got a little carried away (it was the only pattern I used. To make 9 shirts). I'm trying to expand my repetoire this spring. And I think your contrasting band looks like an innovative design choice!
