Beyond The Sea - Fabric In Action

Threaded fabric bunting

While we're anxiously awaiting the arrival of Cloud9 Organic Fabric's newest collection, Beyond The Sea, I thought we'd take a look at it in use for a little inspiration and to get a sense of scale. Beyond The Sea is expected to arrive within the next two weeks. If you'd like to receive an email when I list it in the shop, please go here.

5x5 quilt in-a-day

All photographs by Michelle Engel Bencsko, designer for and co-founder of Cloud9 Fabrics. Tutorial for the Threaded Fabric Bunting can be found here. Tutorial for the Quilt In A Day can be found here. Pillows are made from sewing patterns by Rumpled Quilt Skins.

Pretty Bundle

I thought I'd share a bundle I recently put together for a customer. Such an appealing combination of blues and grey.  From top: Lines, Flock, Baby Blue Jersey, Indigo Denim, Toadstools, Storm Jersey. All organic cotton, of course (the denim & storm jersey are blends with hemp).

Ladybugs & Polka Dots

It's time for a new sewing project. I have 3 girls and so far have made a skirt  for the 2-year-old, a shirt for the 9-year-old and a tunic for me. That means it's the 4-year-old's turn! She's been notoriously picky about what she does and doesn't want, so I finally put my foot down today. This is what I'm making and if she doesn't like it I'll make it for her 2-year-old sister instead. Somehow, she's changed her mind and she likes ladybugs and polka dots. Hmmm...

This time around I'm trying two free tutorials to make a shirt from the ladybug fabric and a skirt from the Westfalenstoffe blue on blue polka dots. I'll be using the 90 Minute Shirt Tutorial from MADE (and, yes, I know it will take me much more than 90 minutes) and the Lazy Days Skirt free pattern from Oliver + S.

A Little Green

I managed to find some green in the backyard in the form of moss on an old tree stump. An appropriate color for the day.
