Web Shop Closed...Check Etsy Shop

Well, today's the day. The web shop is closing. Thank you all for your orders and your patience. I received 80 orders in the first few days of the announcement - quite overwhelming for this one-woman-operation! And then, after I had all orders cut, I came down with some sort of illness with a high fever that relegated me to the couch for days. As of today, all orders have been sent with the exception of one person whom I cannot get a hold of. If you haven't received a shipping confirmation email, feel free to contact me at: modernorganic@gmail.com .   Several of you gave me email addresses in which my emails bounced back for a variety of reasons and VERY OFTEN the automatic emails sent from the shop with your shipping information end up in your junk mail folder. So please do check or shoot me an email.

I have quite a bit of fabric left, mostly pre-cut fat quarters and half yards. I will start listing those in my Etsy shop starting some time next week. You can go here to sign up for email notification when the shop reopens.

I want to once again say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your support. It means so much to me how much you all care about the organic movement. I didn't go out of business because organic fabric isn't popular, more so that it's so popular that I have a lot more competition. That and other reasons related to running a business. I will be posting a list of shops that carry organic fabric and that I personally know deserve your business.

Also, please note that I am not leaving the online community. You can find me at my new blog, A Sewing Journal, where I blog about all kinds of sewing-related things, but I also continue to cover what's new with organic fabric. Please join me there, if you'd like.

Endings .... and Beginnings

Modern Organic Fabrics is going out of business. I really love running the shop and all my wonderful customers, but sometimes things don't go as planned. Why am I closing the shop? Certainly NOT because there is no demand for organic cotton fabric. Quite the contrary, really. I think the popularity of organic fabric has led to many online shops carrying it. Meaning increased competition. I also think that it can be difficult for a very small shop to keep going. Modern Organic Fabrics really needed to take the leap and become bigger. Only I don't have the capital for that. So after a very slow November I realized that without the money for a bigger shop with more products I would need to close the shop. I was very sad about it and didn't make the decision easily. As I type this and tell you all about it, time has passed and I'm comfortable with closing the shop and moving on.

There is good news for you, though! The entire shop is on sale for 40% off! Yes, EVERYTHING! While supplies last, of course. Please read the "small print"  below:

• 40% off is the final mark down. Prices will not go lower than this. This price reflects my break even point.
• There will no longer be free shipping for any orders. Shipping prices are calculated when you check out. If you overpay by a significant amount for shipping, you will be refunded. If you underpay by a significant amount you will be asked to pay more before your order is shipped.
• The shop will close Saturday, January 15. Any remaining inventory will then be moved to my Etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop/modernorganicfabrics). My etsy shop is currently in Vacation Mode until January 16. So this sale is exclusive to my web shop customers.
• After you scoop up all the goodies you want, I'd appreciate it if you could tell any friends, Facebook/Twitter buddies and/or blog readers you know about the sale to help me move the remaining inventory.

This is not the end of me, though. I'll still be around and will return to blogging. Some of you may remember when I was the voice behind The Fabric Shopper. Well, I love blogging and miss it. I have started a new blog and would love it if you would join me there. It's call A Sewing Journal, and while I have a few posts up to give you an idea of what it's all about, it's still a bit of a work in progress.
