Organic Sewing: Show and Tell with Liesl

Meet Liesl of Liesl Made. Today she is going to tell us a little about what she sews with organic cotton fabrics:

Modern Organic Fabrics: What do you make with organic cotton fabric?

Liesl: Mostly I’ve been making women’s clothes. Some for my shop, but, of course, some for myself as well! I’ve made dresses, pajama bottoms, skirts.

Modern Organic Fabrics: Which fabric do you use?

Liesl: Mostly I’ve been using Harmony Art Organic Fabrics.

Modern Organic Fabrics: What do you like about the fabric?

Liesl: The extra wide width is fun. I haven’t done a project that requires such a wide width but I love that the option is there. Plus the quality really is top notch.

Modern Organic Fabrics: How do you make your clothes? Do you use a pattern? If so, which ones?

Liesl: For the dresses I make, I use the Coffee Date Dress (http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/coffee-date-dress-multisize-sample) over at Burda Style as a launching point—adjusting the pattern for different specific measurements. I made my own pattern for my pajamas, copying an old pair I bought. (I actually just posted a tutorial for the shorts on my blog! Here is the link: http://lieslmade.wordpress.com/2010/10/06/pj-shorts-tutorial-with-pattern/). Other times, I’ve used vintage patterns that I’ve adjusted—like for my pencil skirts.
